Diary 8.5.1883

Tuesday May 8

Very fine morning got up soon and washed before I had breakfast, There are so many allowed to wash on one day but they have to be done before 12 at noon, then so many for another day, but no washing allowed on Saturday or Sunday, it is my day on Tuesday. We have only salt water to wash with unless we can save some of our drinking water to wash with. I have not many to wash with Emmeline having print pinafores, they will not let us keep dirty clothes because they might smell. We are going very fair again today. Mr Hutton is worse again today. We had porridge and tea for breakfast, hash and potatoes for dinner, so we got the cook to make us some tea to finish off with. Mrs Hebdon is rather better today.
