Diary 4.4.1883

Wednesday 4

A very fine morning, on deck again but very little wind so we do not get on very fast, the constables were searching for lost blankets this morning, some people are ready to take anything they can lay their hands on, we are very glad that we made the most of our money safe before we left Glasgow, the distance run yesterday 80 miles, we were 980 miles from land ahead the wind has begun to blow a little better and we hope to make better time out when we get the Trade Winds to help us, the cooking is improving a little.
