Abandoned at Eildon

I found this photo of Peachey's hay shed on flickr, which sent me off to find other photos of buildings etc which were initially submerged when the Eildon Dam was built, and have now 'arisen' again due to the drought conditions. The remains of historical features are scattered throughout the area which reflect early gold mining activity and European settlement, including Merlo Homestead, an original homestead now submerged under the lake and only visible in times of drought. More info & photos including the 2 below at http://www.lakeeildon.com/index.php

This one of Kelly's Bridge just follows my current bridge obsession.
for those who have seen that great movie 'Holes' (based on the Louis Sachar book), you'll appreciate the photo below.

For the literary minded try 'Secrets of Walden rising' by Allan Baillie, which has great depiction of the old gold mining town of Walden rising up out of a dam's waters during a drought.
